How are the works made?

Newell GU works across several techniques: acrylic paint on canvas, digital print enhanced with acrylic paint, oil stick, and mixed media. Many works combine photographic foundations with painted gestures, creating surfaces where image and matter coexist. Each series develops its own material language.

Are commissions available?

Selected commissions are considered on a case by case basis, depending on scale, context, and alignment with the artist's practice. Residential and hospitality projects are particularly welcome. The studio welcomes inquiries for projects where artworks are intended to engage thoughtfully with space, atmosphere, and context.

Do you offer diptychs or triptychs?

Yes. Certain works are conceived as diptychs or triptychs and can be proposed as complete installations. The studio can advise on groupings suited to specific spaces and contexts.

What are the Newell STICKS?

The Newell Sticks are painted wooden works that extend the visual language of the canvases into space. Rooted in references to message sticks encountered by Newell GU during travels through Australia and to the chance-based logic of mikado, they function as autonomous objects, rhythmic elements, and spatial interventions. Standing, leaning, or gathered in changing formations, they bring color, pattern, and movement into direct dialogue with architecture and daily life.

How do the works live in a space? '

Each work is conceived as a space to be inhabited, not merely observed. The deep blues of the Sky and Water series create meditative atmospheres. The intense reds and pinks of Fairchild and Flamboyant energize a room. The black and white works function as visual anchors. Works reveal different things depending on the light and time of day. They are not consumed in a single glance.

What formats and sizes are available?

Works range from intimate works on paper (9 × 11 in) to large scale canvases (up to 36 × 72 in). The studio can advise on formats suited to specific spaces. A selection of works is available for immediate acquisition.
