NewellGU Art Studio

 

NewellGU, born Francois Guglielmina, is a French artist based in the Miami Florida. Using this name is both a feminist act of recognizing his mother's name and a return to his roots by acknowledging his Australian origins.

 

Since 1997, he has worked on several projects in France, Switzerland, Canada and the U.S.. Trained as an architect Francois explores different territories and mediums: architecture, design, photography, sculpture, drawings, and painting.

Miami Serie comes from a collection of 600 drawings and paintings created from 2020 to 2022. Inspired by the natural elements, he creates a graphic and colorful universe representative of the City of Miami. He combines techniques to create illusions and deals with realistic, abstract, and minimalist subjects.

​

 

“First comes the look, the framing, the shapes, the colors, the photo shots. Then comes the transformation, the reinterpretation, the painting, the lights, the materials, the contrast, the impression. Finally comes the association, the composition, the dialogue of forms and subjects that tells a relationship between memory and abstract forms.”
